After the festival, Zahn rushes back to his workshop to get it cleaned up and hide away his secret designs, just before Awrful Rot shows up. He shows the Titanian some of the engine components he's working on, and she asks him if he's good with ceramics. After he says that he makes the forms and then has the potters work with the actual ceramics, the Titanian shows him the designs for a ceramic rotary engine that her uncle, an 'idea miner', recovered from the wreck of the Titanic.

After talking about the engine, Zahn says he might be able to work up a prototype, and then Awrful offers to let him have the plans in order to keep them away from industrial spies on Rephidim – all part of her plan to dominate the aircraft motor business.

Zahn agrees to look after them, and Awrful says she'll be back around in a year or so. Amelia arrives just as the Titanian is leaving, and Zahn shows her how to open the door to his cabin and sets up the bed.
