Elijah's ship, the Eternal Vigilance, arrives on a sky island known as the Outpost of Ice, manned by a number of Yverneti warriors from various local tribes, and commanded by the "Keeper", an elder Yverneti by the name of Hekeph. Elijah learns that this is not the Sanctuary itself, but that the sky island traverses the southern portions of Sinai, and will reach the Sanctuary.

Later, the sky island reaches a gigantic tower – the Sanctuary of Ice – and Elijah walks across a formed bridge to enter the tower. There, he finds that within the tower is an enclosed environment alive with plants, and he meets the Champion of Ice. He informs the Champion of Ice about recent changes with the Temple and the Knights Templar, but the Champion is reluctant to shift his allegiances at a moment's notice.
