Piper timidly suggests to the innkeeper at the Black Rock Hostelry that he could try to seek help from the gang known as the Shadow Wolves, in order to fend off the trouble caused by the Kavi gang known as the Blood Kings. The raccoon innkeeper, Durog, is dubious … but also desperate, and agrees to at least talk about the matter. Piper heads off to the Shadow Wolves headquarters, and explains his situation to Blue Moon and Cynthia. Torn-Ear comes back from an unspecified deal in good spirits, and indicates willingness to help Piper out … if Piper will help him out by capturing a silver creen … the same silver creen that Piper has refused to capture before, and has named Argent ("Silver"). Piper almost tearfully agrees that he will do this task, but begs to have some other way to repay the favor, as he does not wish to betray the silver creen after making himself out to be a friend. Torn-Ear relents, suggesting that Piper can repay in some other – unspecified – way.
