Sleeping in her own cabin in Blacktail territory for a change, Amy has a peaceful night but wakes up hearing a voice in her head – one that claims to be the real her. She also finds that she's got a red stripe running from her nose to her tail tip. Her spirit claims it was woken by a 'call', although Amelia didn't hear anything.

To make things worse, Gunther shows up banging on the door. He asks about the stripe but Amy changes the subject to ask what he's doing there. The young Kadie has a message from Djivan, that Amy needs to come right away and be armed as well.

Amy dresses and wills away the red stripe, getting her spirit to compromise by not turning anything red that shows. Gunther and Amy meet Djivan, who shows Amy a scrap of Lili's clothing that he found to the north, along with blood. Amy tells Gunther to let Isolde know where she's going, and her own inner spirit mentions that the call came from the direction they're going.
