Isstan's spirit is raised and persuaded to help. The ritual brings many things to light, in particular, the appearance of a Naga demon, a 'Chiga', and its twelve Bokorus, who attack the participants; after a fierce battle, they are slain, and Buran demonstrates a miraculous ability to dispatch these spirit creatures.
