After having arranged for the bulk of Moffat's secrets to make their way to a trusted Inquisitrix, Leeta seeks out her guard friends to bid them farewell. The two Jupani wish her luck, and tell her to be careful. Leeta then runs to the scholar's quarter, to give a sunset serenade on a streetcorner. Another of Moffat's triggers, this will ensure that all the black mail information on the Champion of Roses is delivered to her. Finally, Leeta goes to the Shiny Shoppe, to tell Jezebel and Zoltan farewell before she leaves. Jezebel asks her about her candidacy, and Leeta hesitates to answer, trying to change the subject by bringing out the Hand of the Ancients. This is more successful than anticipated, as the Hand attacks Jezebel, almost killing the Savanite. Zoltan's intervention saves Third-Eye, and he orders Leeta out of the house to burn the hand. Fire-Mane does so, managing to magically start a fire seemingly through sheer rage. The artifact roars in a huge pillar of fire, drawing Zoltan, and then Twilight-Wing from the house. Leeta is offered the role of Priest-Queen, and refuses, conceeding the title to Jezebel in the hopes she will forgive her mistake. Some strange side effects occur with Twilight-Wing's magic, further disturbing both the Savanite and Vartan. Left alone, Zoltan comforts Leeta and says he will try to explain things to Jezebel, if she has survived the attack alright. Fire-Mane has one last look at Enos and her sister, before rushing back to the Temple where her mannerisms hint that events have had a more profound effect on her than she realizes
