Rory continues to explore the cottage, having a flashback of being Corwin … and then, strangely enough, of being Sylvan! The story takes a dark turn, as Corwin's distrust of Sylvan overwhelms his sense of friendship with her, and he sets out to try once again to slay the dragon, despite her pleas to come to his senses.
