Willow is present for the wedding of Morning-Mist (her friend she rescued from Bakanal) to Prince Ral Diamante (a handsome Cervani prince). Ariel makes an appearance as the flower girl, while Prince Sebazhan Dack has convinced Ral to have him step in as best man. The ceremony is briefly interrupted as Goldmane a Jupani from Bakanal who had opposed Willow's earlier rescue of Morning-Mist shows up to protest the wedding. When it's evident that Morning-Mist will have none of this, it looks like the wolf is going to get violent … but Willow stands up to him … and trips him. The menfolk pile on the wolf and see him out the door, while the ceremony continues.
Outside, the bouquet is tossed, and it's caught by Ariel. The garter is tossed as well … and it lands on the ear of Rezhinald Dack, Prince Kiri Naochi's butler. (The butler doesn't seem the least bit enthusiastic about this.)
As the guests head into the town hall to celebrate, Willow catches Prince Sebazhan Dack outside the door. He indicates that he plans on leaving, but Willow gives him a little holy book she still has from Testament-Blaze, and then persuades him to stay a while longer. At the party, she asks a favor of Dack that he help her brother, Kiri, with a one-time loan, free of interest, to help him get his principality back in order. Dack agrees … and furthermore agrees to accompany Willow on a shopping trip the next day so she can replace the items she lost during her misadventure in Olympia.
