A PersoCom machine and the Silent One data unit are brought to the crystal chamber, in order that Dr. Caravelli, Eli Zerachiel, Layth and Fallen Star might attempt a more radical means to connect Fallen Star to the Bellerophon's systems: possession of a living host. Being the only live person on board who isn't needed to oversee the procedure and already has a life collar, Layth is volunteered for the task. After the sedatives and convergence take place, Layth finds himself in another unpleasant dream – this one of his caravan days an the loss of a dear friend. As the dream comes to a close Fallen Star intercepts it within it. They talk, Layth trying to reassure the woman even as he stumbles over the new found knowledge she has granted him.
