Tulani returns to the castle earlier than Lilith expected, so the spy-bat can't see her just yet. The Sphynx is led to one of the many libraries in the castle, where she surprises a distracted Alptraum.
She asks what has his thoughts so occupied, and he explains that he wants to arrange a special date for the Countess where she can get away from actually being the Countess for a bit and just relax.
He describes a dinner setting that Tulani thinks is romantic, and talks about his worries about the eventual meeting between his parents and the Countess. All Tulani can offer is to have a backup plan.
Conversation turn to the arrival of the curious (about them) Reaper, Mortimer. Alptraum wonders if the Korv could be scared off somehow, but Tulani advises against it, saying they should be as open with him as they can (without going into too much detail or revealing that Alptraum has become the Shadow).
They decide the best way to 'prove' that Alptraum isn't a threat is to show that nothing bad happens when he's exposed to the Light of Nala, where it and the Shadow always reacted violently together in the past.
