The Chiga demon released from Arkold's balm snifter grows off of his renewed withdrawal pains – which have nearly crippled the Jupani in the meantime. Witchdoctor Qing arrives on the scene, and sets a Guardian Spirit on the Chiga, which keeps it at bay for a time. It becomes clear that the demon is feeding off of Arkold, and to defeat it he must overcome his addiction withdrawal and slay the Chiga himself. Fenter and Qing work to immobilize the demon, and Arkold manages to dispatch the thing – ending both the threat and his addiction. Qing also detects the presence of the enchanted map, as it causes a disturbance in the exorcism spell he fired off to finish cleaning up the Chiga. Tulani tells the Spirit Mage the story of the map and their quest, and Qing asks that the mages be allowed to study the map before the pair move on. Arkold and Tulani agree, after some thought and assurances that they'll get the map back, and Qing prepares a seance to wake up 'Dunky'.
