Zoltan says his goodbyes to Jezebel, Pouncer, Enos and Taliamelle, putting Taliamelle "in charge" of the other two cubs while he's gone. He is then distracted by a Savanite riot, and spots Azhtar among them. He also spots Jezebel having some problems with a Temple Inspector at her ship, the "Redemption's Hope." Jezebel flees, and Zoltan drops off Azhtar on the ship, but hasn't time to get a full explanation. Zoltan leaves the ship as Jezebel's spells take effect, and fakes a story about trying to stop the rebel Savanites but failing. Aboard the Intimidator, Zoltan reunites Star with her father, Ibis … and learns of Ibis' horrible secret.
