Once everyone is awake, Envoy prepares breakfast (and distracts Violette) while Icarus and Walter put the outer skin on the Gravy Boat. It's difficult to keep Violette thinking it's actual Earth Magic and magnets doing it though, as it everything still feels different to her.

The two mages discuss problems with the Guild and Caroban (or at least Envoy points out what she thinks are the big problems), and Violette sees why she was expelled, but still pretty much agrees with Envoy.

Then come the rituals to create the gravity thrusters, and Violette gets to see the ritual crystals in action. She seems disturbed and shocked that Envoy has Sifran crystal implants, and that sometimes the crystals talk while Envoy smooths out the glitches that Violette is able to detect. In the end, the first motor is dubbed a 'success' by Envoy, even though it damages a wall.
