Francisco returns to the Old Cemetary, seeking out the Kitsune spirit that he met so long ago when he rescued Raishe, daughter of Avram the Zolk Merchant, from some cultists. He at last finds Amaranth, though he only hears her voice in a whisper, and does not see her in her physical form. Amaranth, true to her nature, does not give Francisco much in the way of straight answers to his questions. Francisco offers to help Amaranth, by sharing his own body to serve as an "avatar" for her spirit. Amaranth disappears … and what exactly happened as a result of this agreement remains to be seen.
