Willow and her family accompany Methuselah and the Titanians on a starship, arriving at a gigantic crystal structure that resembles a caltrop in shape, and is named after one, located near the Lotus Nebula. Inside, Willow has to adjust to some strange gravity effects, then is introduced to some of the other Silent Ones. She suggests to Methuselah that the candidates for replacing him should be subjected to a test. Methuselah is intrigued with the idea, and requests that Willow work on presenting some ideas on what sort of tests would be most appropriate.
