At Aaron Lightfoot's Apothecary and Thaumaturgical Supplies, Wynona and another mage peruse the wares … but they rush off when Qing enters the shop with his disagreeable aroma. Qing and Aaron exchange insults, while an old wolf looks over Aaron's books, in search of something with pictures in it. Qing leaves, and Aaron brings out the odd book he got from Punja in Abu Dhabi. The wolf tries to buy it, and Aaron at last gets out of him that he can actually read the book … and that the wolf happens to be an Exile. Aaron works out a deal: the wolf gets the book, but, so Aaron still has a "conversation piece", the wolf comes every week to tell tales of his adventures to the younger apprentices. The wolf agrees … leaving Aaron to ponder just who it was that the wolf was referring to when he said that "one other person" in Rephidim could read the book's language as well.
