Lochinvar's adventure in the dream version of the Earth Tower continues, as he subdues the dream Lakshmi and Skye, preventing Skye from dying from a fall, and preventing Lakshmi from being killed by the animated gargoyles. Then, he gets to the Sphynx chamber, except that the "sphynx" has a bat-like head, and reveals itself to be Rephath … who is less than pleased with Lochinvar's failure to exact vengeance on his "foes", and sweeps him out of the dream reality.
