After the harrowing day, Olivia falls to sleep quickly – and then seems to wake up just as quickly, as if never having slept at all. When she opens her door, though, she finds a hellish landscape of burning rubble and bones.

A zombie brings her to a glowing throne, upon which waits Valicross, now showing his cadaver-like face. He shows Olivia how Natasha wiped out his first wave of zombies twenty years past, and then how his second – held in reserve out of range of the mage's spell – swept in to defeat her forces.

Olivia grudgingly tells him that she'll be taken to Zahn in the morning, led by Amelia. The necromancer teases and frightens her more, hinting that she might even be honored to become part of his harem once his rule is established.
