At the Musket Range, Zoltan gets instruction from a Skeek by the name of Lieutenant Stern in the use of firearms, and is visited by Den Leader Danae Sapphire. He is invited to a Temple Scout rally which is to feature an appearance by the Champion of Sound and the Champion of Roses. He presses the question of why there's such interest in his cubs, and at last learns that the Champion of Roses herself has taken an interest in them for some undisclosed reason
