Eve and Jynx visit Prince Kiri Naochi in Naochi Principality of Kroz, just in time to witness the Unity Day fireworks celebrations – as facilitated by a green fire-breathing dragon. Jynx also meets the "blynx" – a feline non-anthro creature that is able to turn invisible at will. Eve and Jynx watch the display, then follow along as Kiri demonstrates how he "puts away" the dragon … by giving the blynx some meat and letting the dragon chase after it, back into the caves. Eve, however, is more interested in something else she sees underground: what looks like an underground railway system, being used by Hookas (which they refer to as "whonkers").

Eve, impulsive as ever, boards the train, Jynx following her, and they ride eastward under Kroz, witnessing what appears to be an underground ocean and volcanic activity. At last, they come out at a nexus of sorts, and take a moving staircase upwards … but the top of the staircase is blocked, and Eve panics as she's afraid she'll get crushed. Jynx helps Eve to a stable hand-hold, then braces himself and knocks the barrier away, knocking himself unconscious in the process. When he comes to, Eve and Jynx discover that they've ended up in Parthos – capitol of Olympia, far east of Naochi Principality. Eve is excited by this, thinking that this will help her plans to build a railway through the nations of Nordika. Jynx, however just wants to know who they would ask permission for such a venture.
