Miranda wakes up from a series of disturbing dreams to find a black-furred bunny rabbit at the foot of her bed… which talks to her. It's been sent by Buffy, letting her know that she's found something that could be important towards finding Clover: a hole she thinks the Lapi fell down.

Getting up, Miranda hurries towards the dam to tell Zahn, and is intercepted by Liliana, who has taken a real interest in the girl. They find Zahn, who gets together his spelunking gear, and head for the castle. Amelia is supposedly still there, according to Zahn.

They arrive at the castle and Miranda meets Liliana's cousin Rey, who Dr. Pike has chained up as a guinea pig for 'vegetarian vampire' project. They also meet Qing, who overhears the talk about a 'vampire', which the others tend to play down, explaining that Buffy is a guardian spirit for the Chalk warrens. To distract Qing from the subject, Amy asks if he can provide them with a spirit to act as a scout.
