Jynx retires to his old room, and stumbles upon Gnarr, a barbaric lupine who is now his roommate, since his father (previously thinking Jynx dead), has been renting the room. After some uncomfortable exchanges, Jynx tries to get some sleep, but his rest is interrupted as a burglar breaks in, going after (of all things), a book in the possession of the uncivilized barbarian wolf. Jynx has the advantage, with his night vision and the element of surprise, and thwarts the attempted theft, though the burglar escapes
