While Natasha recovers at the Gnarly Tree, Olivia and Djivan sneak off to finish their original mission: checking on Olivia's parents. When they arrive, the skreek is shocked at the behavior of Olivia's mother Irene, and does shy from telling her so. Olivia's father is more understanding, and shows real affection for his daughter. He gives her a dowry he's been saving up for her as well.

Back in town, Olivia wants to stop at her room to change her clothes, and finds her Aunt Augusta – who is also her employer – waiting. The woman also chastises Olivia for getting involved in such dangerous affairs and then not coming back to let her know she was alright! Again, Djivan jumps in and defends Olivia, causing Augusta to laugh and get to like him.

Olivia's Aunt decides to go give her sister a piece of her mind while she's warmed up, and Olivia ponders taking a little vacation with the gypsies.
