After spending the morning working in the Temple of Morpheus, Layth returns to the Hydron villa and finds Aaron still at the training field, cloud-watching. He tells the other about his night with Tyche and her daughters, mentioning trade and the notion of him marrying Calligenia. Aaron advises him to step very lightly, and warns about what he thinks Tyche's ultimate plans might be, and that Layth could be selling his soul to a devil when dealing with her.

Layth points out that most of his 'polite and docile' behavior is a ruse to make others drop their guards, and that he has no intention of letting himself be manipulated by Tyche. Aaron tells him about Tasha's mood, and that having an argument about marriage might help her out a bit.

Layth finds Tasha and tells her about the suggestion of marriage, and to his surprise the half-Vartan is very calm about it, having been forewarned by Aaron of the possibility. She is still touched that Layth said he needed to speak with her about it first, and that he would give his life for her out of friendship and not just out of duty.

The couple talk about love and feelings, and then are interrupted by Chloe who is out picking flowers. They talk to her a bit about her life in the Villa and what the staff thinks of the strange foreigners, only to find that the doe never really thought about it – that was simply no reason to wonder about why or if they were odd.
