In the gardens of the School of Earth, Envoy is taken by Iona to a secluded clearing, where she is asked to cause a magically-saturated podling to grow into a plant. (Arkold and Raneah watch, though Raneah is unnerved by Envoy's "shaping of life".) Envoy succeeds, though the results are not quite as natural as might be hoped for – but the important thing is that it demonstrates that Envoy is indeed getting her magical abilities back.
