Jynx is minding his own business, when a disaster happens about his ears. He walks out of it thirteen shekels richer, and then walks into a newly opened game store ("Lucky's Games"), and is the thirteenth customer, winning a free meal at the Bronze Cogwheel (an oddly-decorated restaurant). He tries for his luck on the Wheel of Fortune, but the fortune that comes up is nothing but a skull and crossbones on a black field. He leaves the store, heading for the restaurant to get himself a free meal, and goes for "The Whole She-Bang" – Item #13 on the menu. He attracts the attention of a Knight Templar named Blossom, a Khatta of the Magenta Lance, and she takes him to the Carnival. They have, for the most part, an enjoyable day, but when they go to a gypsy crow to have fortunes told, Blossom displays some odd behavior … and things get even odder when they take a ride in the Tunnel of Love
