Rasheeka relives a time in her past, during the waning days of her mother's estate, illustrating her mother's insistence of living far beyond her means for the sake of appearances.
Then, in the present, Rasheeka is brought before the Minister of Trade of Sychi, and impresses her with her own learning far beyond that of the average mere slave though it still evident that Rasheeka, while she may be able to speak the tongue of the natives, does not know how to read and write their script, and thus will still need some educating to properly serve the tyr.
