With the others off on their own exploratory mission, Umeko joins Vandringar to form the last group before departing to locate the Lord Pieksvaldt's quarters. Narrowly avoiding a meeting with the Raveness, they find themselves in a abandoned, decaying tower that rises like a decaying corpse in to the storm. With nowhere to go but up, the two ascend, only to come face to face with ghostly House Pieksvaldt footmen who cry, "Traitor!" among other things, and attack. Bemused, the two fight off the ghosts only to be faced with them gain, and more still. Deciding, though the footmen individually are no match for either of them, that a endless battle against the dead is something they can't hope to win, Umeko volunteers to cling the tower alone while Vandringar holds the undead off. The Cervani Lord agrees, and so Umeko climbs at great peril from wind and structural failure, eventually making it as far as she can only to find nothing but a simple bloodied sword left abandoned in the ruins. She names the sword "Lordslayer," deciding it must be the weapon which felled the Lord Rook, and upon taking it the spectral war host vanishes with nary a cry. After meeting up with Vandringar, the two puzzle at the abandoned weapon and decide it must be important even if they're not quite sure how, yet.
