In Parthos, Olympia, in the Temple of Logos – which is a library, where pursuit of knowledge is considered an act of worship of the God of the Mind, Logos – Envoy makes a donation so that she might get the use of a candle to light her way, and a priestess to show her where she might find books on Kroz and the underground kingdoms of Moltpaa. She encounters a literate Hooka looking through the books as well, who is interested in glowing clusters of gems. She also meets Kia, the mouse tinker, who is making her way through the library, and finds tales of the Moltpaa underground railway and the glowing gems to be quite interesting. Envoy asks the Hooka, Whonkahonk, if he might be able to show her to the underground city of Stalto, where it seems the lake of fire might be from her vision … and Kia is interested in tagging along as well, so she might see the "underground railroad".
