Tulani heads to the library to kill some time, and runs into Alptraum. They joke a bit about how Mortimer would react to finding out Tulani is a 'weredragon', and how her family might react as well.

Alptraum admits his feelings for the Countess and how he's thinking of marriage and their future together, while Tulani assures him that politics and tradition won't prevent the Countess from marrying him if she really wants to.

Among the idle chatter, the two reaffirm their bonds of friendship and that they'll keep watch on each others backs and offer support when needed.
