Even in the final days of choosing the new Captain-Astromancer, Leeta protects Tahir from various 'accidents' and worries what will happen to him if he isn't chosen over Rhys.

After the journey home to Rephidim, Tahir is chosen to be the new Captain-Astromancer, due to his thoughtfullness, over Rhys' charisma and leadership.

Leeta is given the Silent Ones Speaking Glove to keep, and vows to remain by Tahir's side as Fire Mane.
