While visiting the lands of Dack, the weather turns cold, and the snowy mountains prove to be hazardous, as the Kavi driver loses control of the carriage and crashes it. Willow and her companions escape serious injury, but a great deal of the cargo is damaged. They salvage what they can, and go down to Dack Village, where they get rooms at the Last Resort Inn, and a meal. Willow and Burr head out in the evening to visit Castle Dack, where they meet the Prince. He offers to buy the salvaged cargo for a silver piece. The next morning, Willow and her companions get a wagon ride to Olympia, in exchange for Willow's remaining store of tobacco.
