Elijah is awakened, and led to the barge where "The Lady" is at. He goes in, alone, passing through a sense-negating barrier – an obvious sign of Shadow Magic at work. The Lady – an Olympian Kattha – is hidden behind a curtain for the entirety of his visit, and he repeats his suggestion that if the Lady of Shadows is seeking knowledge, that she pay a visit to the Sanctuary of Amber, which he too is visiting. He lets slip mention of Srinala, and this gets the Lady's attention. She is intrigued by the rise of "gods" and "goddesses" in recent times, as well as "miracles", and mention of a Srinala actually getting up and walking around is news to her. She explains a bit of the significance of this to Elijah. Elijah also asks if Inri might be able to get some guidance in spellcasting from the Lady, and she indicates that she is open to the idea. In the end, she agrees to accompany Elijah to the Sanctuary.

Back at the hotel, Elijah lets Inri know about this latest development, and talks with her about his reasons for going to the Sanctuary, and his concerns about his own course of action.
