Kadies are not great swimmers, and Gunther is stuck with dam inspection duty while the usual Akwavi that do it are gone. While he's wringing out his tail and complaining, Nene Oggton pops and surprises him. He asks her what she wants this time, and she tells him she wants to borrow some waterproof cord to use when she tries out for her Salvage Badge in the old (submerged) town.

Gunther gets upset that he wasn't asked to come along, and finally Nene agrees to let him. He complains about his swimming issues (claiming it isn't fair that otters get to use their tails to swim with), and Nene tries to stuff his tail into his shorts, but it doesn't work. Gunther comes up with the idea of making an ottersuit then, that would keep him dry and streamlined. He just needs to measure some otters first.
