Jynx is in the Crafters' Quarter on a break from his job with Sewer Maintenance Crew Number Thirteen, along with the foppish Fox, while Zoltan is at the same cafe, in between errands. A guard with six Savanite slaves is asking around nearby, while the Fox's singing in praise of Jynx prompts the black Khatta to flee to another part of the cafe – and be reunited with Zoltan. Zoltan, hearing the contents of this song of praise, is quite interested, since he has his own reasons for wanting to find some alternate way in or out of Faraon's Dome. The guard finally locates Jynx, and presents him with the six slaves recovered from the Babelite airship – as well as the airship itself (with some accompanying costs for recovery and storage). Zoltan, however, works a deal with Jynx, taking it all off his hands for one iron shekel.
