Buran, at the house of Jennendra the Korv Seeress, is startled by an apparently "undead" bird that pecks at one of the windows, then flies away, while the Seeress is otherwise occupied. Buran decides not to tell Jennendra, instead waiting for completion of the spell. Then, Jennendra sends Buran on a magical quest, transported far away by the power of the spell, to acquire necessary components for the divination the Seeress will perform.
