After Jarik's death has been faked, Jarik is now assuming the name of Darius, claiming to be a servant of his presumably deceased former self, now seeking the Crydonian Sword in Elamoore, a major trade city in Himar.

He spots a wealthy poodle who apparently has the blade in his possession, and after trying to get the poodle's attention, takes an opportunity to try to steal it during a commotion. Things, however, do not quite go as planned, and Jar – er, Darius ends up injured in the attempt
