Lakshmi wanders off from the others, heading back to the garden at the base of the tower. There, she brings a "squirrel-vermite" (a squirmite?) to life by letting sunshine fall on it through one of the windows, and dubs it "Pearl". Later, Skye and Lochinvar join her, and she brings a gooshurm back to life with sunlight again. Next, Lochinvar and Skye fly up to the crystal birds high above in the center of the stairwell, and they fetch a tiny lizard statue. It comes back to life when Lakshmi breathes on it, and behaves like a cross between a lizard and a hummingbird.
