Jynx, now known as 'Snow-Fur', wakes up to find himself covered in cheetah markings … not merely splatters of oil on bleached fur! Seeking an answer to this, he instead finds breakfast … but eventually tracks down Tears-of-Blood and learns more of what Jezebel has in mind for him. Snow-Fur goes along on the "Hand of Shadows", as it locates a slaver ship, the "Ill Repute", taking in a load of Savanites. The "Hand" strikes, and Snow-Fur fights a lion-Khatta who was in pursuit of a little girl about Eve's age. Snow- Fur is forced to put up a fight … and defeats the lion.
