Inquisitor Zeffel separates Chiaroscuro from Envoy and reviews the story with the mongoose, then suggests that Envoy was just using Chiaroscuro to cover her attack on the mage. When Chiaroscuro refuses to admit the possibility, Zeffel has the Exile sign his testimony, then leaves him in a cell to stew, then asks him if he wants to change his mind. Chiaroscuro remains steadfast, and Zeffel then reveals that Haskalah has posted bond for Chiaroscuro, and thus Chiaroscuro is free to go
