Farmer Gaunt brings Willow, Testament-Blaze, Copy and Burr all the way to Parthos, capitol of Olympia. Willow checks in with her airship, the Merryweather, and leaves Burr to be reunited with his son, Thorn. The bank is closed, and the crew is out getting drunk and partying, so she opts to do some sight-seeing. An old Kattha lady openly stares at Willow, and Willow goes to investigate, learning that the old woman is the Oracle of Primus. The woman's guardian is fairly rude to the Skreek, and Willow returns the favor, prompting the oracle to leave after only giving Willow a very vague warning about her fate.

Willow encounters Whitehead, and rebuffs his clumsy advances … then discovers that Testament-Blaze has wandered off. She finds him conversing in sign with a cheetah dancer and an armored warrior accompanying her. Willow then takes Testament-Blaze and Burr into the Temple of the Pantheon, where the other two go and check out the sights (or smell, in the case of Copy, who is blind), while Willow examines idols of the gods of the Olympians. A girl Kattha joins Willow, and it soon dawns on Willow that this girl is Ariel – Goddess of Spirits, and Messenger of the Gods. Willow asks Ariel if she can deliver a message to Ria Naochi (Willow's deceased mother) and to Morning-Mist. In return, Ariel asks Willow to get a candy flower to leave at her statue … and for Willow to find someone she likes, and to tell him or her so.

Willow goes back to the airship, finds Burr and Thorn, and, although quite uncomfortable about the whole arrangement, confesses to Burr and Thorn that she sees them as close friends … and then shoos them off before they can get too sentimental about the whole thing.
