After finishing up with Zahn and the remains of his airboat, Gunther returns to his cluttered cabin (or 'Grotto' as he refers to it) and thinks about working on the letter he's supposed to right to Kia, the Skeek in Rephidim whose journal the otters found.
Before he can organize his thoughts, he's startled by a voice behind him: Nene Oggton! She and Bebe are both there, having been hiding in wait under Gunther's bed. They're upset that he didn't invite them first to see (and ride) in his airboat.
Gunther quickly explains about how dangerous it was and that he didn't want the girls to be hurt, which they almost buy but then accuse of him of not thinking about them enough. Gunther talks about how he does, and that seems to mollify the girls (and get them to dote on Gunther a bit, which flusters him as always).
Bebe finally asks if she can jump on Gunther's bed (which he makes very tight), and Gunther says okay. Pretty soon all of them are jumping on the bed and making noise, which brings Gunther's mother, Elsa, to investigate…
