Kia receives a visit from a calico Khatta who seeks her help in hiding an escaped slave from Faraon's Dome, and a visit from Fenter and a guard by the name of Herf. Fenter uses a spell to enchant a compass so that Kia can use it to try to locate pieces of the strange robotic contraption that was junked and presented (in part) to her shop. She uses the compass and goes out and locates what appears to be the head … being used as a kick-ball by a couple of Jupani kids.
