Lakshmi and Skye puzzle over the crystal columns in the Gemstone Chamber, convinced that there must be additional passages other than just the one to the Sapphire Aquarium (where Lochinvar is still standing). They fiddle around with the controls, sealing off the Aquarium, but their various experiments fail to open up any passages. Only when the coral column is depressed – and only the coral column – does the passage to the Sapphire Aquarium open. At last, they open up the passage again, freeing Lochinvar. Lakshmi, frustrated with the lack of progress, leaves to experiment with the garden, while Lochinvar and Skye experiment with the crystal columns a while longer.
