Zoltan, at what's left of Herbir's cabin, peruses the contents of the cabin, looking for pieces of his own past. He then travels to the metal "Fortress of Fire", and meets with the cheetahs and Vykarin who dwell there. Zoltan reveals to the inhabitants that they are on Sinai now, not the planet of Abaddon. Kensington is drug in, having been caught as a "spy", but is released when Zoltan vouches for him. Kensington and Zoltan lead an expedition group out to the edge of the plateau to prove to the cheetahs that things have changed. Some "Confederate" avians follow, and are overwhelmed by the sight as well. Zoltan and Kensington, later that evening, trade tales over a meal. Kensington tells Zoltan of the tower he found in the Forbidden Zone in the Himaat, and Zoltan postulates that this tower might be some sort of gateway to other worlds … such as Abaddon. Zoltan offers Kensington an airship (the one he got from Jynx, and which had previously been used by some Babelite would-be terrorists) in exchange for his help in finding this tower … and hopefully, through it, his father.
