Kaela has a dream in which she seeks out the elder Emerald-Eyes, trying to find help to aid her ailing mother. The elder Princess has little to offer in the way of comfort, but when Kaela expresses interest in learning the ways of magic, the dream changes perspective … back to the days of the City of Hands, in an event that could not have happened, where two young Emerald-Eyes are being instructed by one of the Twelve, to learn to dance
