In the Temple Library, Scarlet is researching the planet of Ashtoreth, though the books in the library have dubious "facts" about the unexplored world. Envoy introduces herself – and points out that these books aren't entirely accurate – and Scarlet introduces herself in turn. Scarlet for some reason wishes to conduct a magical experiment using her magic wand, and though the wand produces only a few sparks, some guards eventually come to investigate. The guards take away Scarlet's wand for inspection, causing the little Aelfin to start crying and bemoaning how unfair life is, while Envoy consoles her. They seem to find each other to be kindred spirits, and leave to talk elsewhere.
