Brishen, courier on call, gets an unusual assignment. She has to put posters up around the bazaar, for a 'Restore the Tower Clock' fund. Working with Reico, but splitting up to cover more area, she encounters Bambridge.
The Chameleon cryptically questions her about slave savanites, which are taken by Brishen to be questions about Reico. During this, some strange and loud noises come from Darkside, which only the Eees are able to hear.
As Brishen separates from Bambridge, the source of the noise becomes apparent. Some large flying device, trailing smoke and flame, roars across the sky and into a building. Everyone else scatters, and the Eee and Chameleon attempt to rescue the pilot. Two Zelak guards show up and assist, then a Jupani guard who commands that everyone be arrested. Bambridge escapes with a Zelak in pursuit, and Brishen is taken to the Temple, and later cleared of the charges
