On the deck of the Morning Star, there is another "contest" between Rhys and Tahir, and Leeta tries to intervene once again. Later, she is sent on an errand to the kitchen … where she is reunited with an old friend who was a fellow slave under her old Jupani master, before Leeta was sold to the Temple. Leeta tries to explain her new status as being "not really a slave" to her friend, but does not find much reception for such radical notions
