Dragon lures Child and Playmate into a trap within the dream-ship, causing a food dispenser to erupt and shower them with cold oatmeal while they're trying to tag her with squirt guns. Child and Playmate rush to the Bridge to protest, and Dragon slips onto the Bridge. Mother asks Dragon's account, then praises her for pulling the prank. Dragon petitions Mother for control over Envoy, lest Envoy be exorcised of Inala's influence … and quite possibly Child and Father as well. Mother at last relents, offering Dragon memories of what has transpired in the time since Inala took over, and limited control of Envoy's body in order to try to contact the outside world, in the hopes of heading off this exorcism.
